Ow Ow, she's back

Okay, so my computer is down and will be for a while. It didn't crash it just wont charge and my battery is dead, so alas, no computer. I have a new painting and another piece that I will post photos of.This was an assignment for my painting class, where we were to do a piece, non-representational, and non-objective, but at the same time show us. And it also needed to have the measurements of our height. So, voila, it is done. A fish bowl covered in feathers. It has meaning, but you can figure that out.

Next, I'm working on a series this semester about pets, my fish and the problems they have caused are the reason I paint fish in the first place. So, I want to show pets and all the emotions that pets bring out in us and why we care about them so much.I took one with the flash, but the colors done really show, so there is another without the flash. Whatever, enjoy.

little time, little time

So, I guess I should probably update. Though, it is hard to update without photos and all. This summer I am taking no art classes, and am taking Botany and Philosophy, which probably means I wont have a lot of time for art. I do plan to eventually take photos of all my stuff from this last semester. So far, my summer has consisted of me reading a lot and bumming and working. Though I have been really busy and I have no idea why. I plan on trying to get some paintings done at least, here's hoping....

Volcanoes and Flying Ponies

One of my assignments for serigraphy was to take one of my prints and try to recreate it somewhere and take a photo. Here is what I came up with. Enjoy.

Drop it like its hot

"The Lady and the Goldfish V"
Acrylic on Canvas

I plan on going back and adding shadows from the fish, and a few more touches here and there. My crtique was fantastic, I was told this one is on a different level than the others. And, I cropped it really well. I feel good.

serigraph and 93rd annual student exhibition

"Maple Syrup"
Reduction Serigraph

This print is actually from last semester and was my third reduction. I have done two more since this one and will post as soon as possible.

The 93rd annual Student Exhibition is coming up, the due date is Monday. I'm praying that my big pot/vase will be done, but I am cutting it close. I will have to come up with a backup plan for a ceramic piece. I plan on putting one painting and one ceramic piece in the show. So, pray they get in!

new painting and out of the rut!

The Three Goldfish

And, I'm officially out of my ceramics rut. I think anyway. I actually feel better in general, being a ceramics rut was highly depressing especially since I plan on going to grad school for ceramics. And, really I think I was just a little depressed in general, and I think I was just being more intimate with my paintings and serigraphs if that makes sense, but I wasn't carrying that over into my pottery. I'm being more open with my pottery, but also this semester Jane is being a hardcore critique. I like that she is and I think its good for me, it just would be nice to hear you've gotten better. The other day all of the independent study people got together with V'lou and I told her I was in a rut, and then showed her what I did and she said I'm getting better. Which was what I needed, so really having two ceramics teachers is really good for me, one to push me and one to love me, hahaha.

But, anyway I do feel a lot better just overall.

no more myspace? and ruts but no ruts.

So, my painting has reached a new level I believe, I just wish ceramics was the same. I have hit a rut. I threw three things tonight, none of which I kept. Which is good and bad. Right now my painting is kicking my ceramics ass, and its frustrating. It happens though, I just hope it doesn't last too long. I feel like I need a break already and things really haven't even begun in there. Thank goodness my paintings and serigraphs are doing well, I might go crazy and think I has chosen the wrong major if they sucked as well. But, I am very happy with my new series.

Also, I think I got kicked off of Myspace because my paintings were too risque'. No e-mail saying why or that my account has been deleted, just gone. Weird.
