Art Family

Well, I haven't been doing any artwork, but at least one member of my family has been.

If you need a wedding photographer, or portrait photographer, or just want some photos of an event done, my sister is exceptional.

Here is the link to her website....

Owl me.

So, I actually did a new painting! Although, it was a wedding present for my friends. I was commissioned to do an owl painting for a friend of mine a while back, and I never got around to it because of school. Then, when they decided to get married, I figured I would just give it to them as a wedding present and voila. They have a modern lime green couch so I put some lime green in it which is hard to see in the photo.

same old thing

Hmm, so the art teaching job is over for the summer, and I was tired of driving an hour to work everyday. Maybe, next summer... So, now I've just been working the other job and enjoying my time off. I do believe it is time to get back into painting. I had to pause in my post due to this...

Anyway, going to do some research and get things going, and done we'll see what happens. I learned a lot about teaching though, getting in there and just doing it was really good for me and I am grateful I had the opportunity.

job

once again, i am mostly consumed with art and little kids, I have found out that the age i originally wanted to teach is the age i really do want to teach. I love the little, little ones, they are so innocent and sweet, but you can't talk to them about art the same way you can the older kids, and its more arts and crafts. I will be done teaching in a few weeks, and I think i will miss it a lot. Maybe, I can get an extra job here at the art center, so i don't have to drive as far.

I am mostly done with the house, only a few little things left to do...

new house, new job, new town

so, I'm moved in, mostly. Started my job at the Firehouse teaching children art, well since they are 5 and 6 mostly just arts and crafts, but whatever. Its pretty fun, I am enjoying it.

The house is almost there, still need to do little thing and buy things, but that will only come in time. I did design our patio table, which we bought off of our neighbor for cheap and rusty, and now its beautiful. That and goldfish made out of plates are all the art I've done lately.
and this is the badass fridge we bought, and are now officially adults because of it.

Aftermath

Woo, done with Capstone and done with school. I have a small job teaching children at the Firehouse Art Center this summer, and I will continue my job at Barnes until I get my teaching certificate to teach in public schools! Yikes, I'm growing up. But it is very exciting, moving to a house, living the life, etc. I'm so excited!

Mixed Media Capstone Show

I have done three pieces like this now, and I am loving it. The first one I don't have a photo of, yet. The first was two goldfish with dark orange fabric and a light blue background. The second is this one with the reverse, a background of fabric and flat light orange goldfish. The third you have to use your imagination, the last two photos are the same piece, both fish are done in fabric but one is off of the canvas swimming outside of it. My wall space was not big enough to show it. Hopefully I will have a full photo of it if it gets into the capstone show.

being green

This has nothing to do with my art, but I was stumbling and came across an article about how Starbucks employees think it is a hassle when customers bring their own mugs or the starbucks reusable ones. I have personally come across this in using my own canvas bags for shopping. The other day, I put my canvas tote on the conveyor belt in front of my food at Braum's, so the girl would see if before the food. The girl just pushed it to the side and started to bag my food in a paper sack, when I explained that I wanted to use my bag, I then had to bag it myself because she was confused by this. Mostly this is just a rant on how hard it is to be green when it should be so easy. Its just like any other bag, and helping in a small amount, and every little bit counts.

One fish, two fish

So, basically this is what I am doing for my captsone. Picture about 30-35 of these puppies all on a white wall, all different colors, in a circle, and voila, capstone.

Peacocks Rock

I actually do have paintings to put on here, but no photos of them, and hopefully soon I will have some photos of my ceramic goldfish I am creating. For now, I will leave you with this badass needlepoint my grandmama did, just ignore the water damage and enjoy.

busy little bee

Basically, I have been working really hard in every single one of my classes which means limited amounts of time for this. I will try to get something up soon though!

I will leave you with this photo of me wasting valuable time to enjoy though...

the end is near!

School has started and I am so busy. I feel like this is my busiest semester ever, and it probably is. Advanced painting is harder, I have my capstone paper and the show to work on, and ceramics! Oh, and my class that has nothing to do with art, but lots of reading and papers! Then, it is the end of me being at OU. Weird, but its time.

Also, I have taken the time to take some photos!

"Cat's View of Mug"

"Strawberry Sleeps Wherever She Wants"

"Sky Blue Bowl"
Salt Fired Stoneware

This past semester I was painting the relationship that Strawberry and I have together. And, how to paint that was the hard part. The "Mug" painting is her mug from her view and in colors that she would see. I tried to show things we did and I tried to paint a portrait of our relationship not the animal. In ceramics I was experimenting with salt glazes and creating my own glazes, I added photos to the albums on the right.

its true

yes, i realize that I am a slacker. But, I also kind of left my pottery in the studio, whoops, so it wont be until school starts (Monday) that I will be posting photos. i suppose I should take photos of my latest paintings as well. Soon, don't worry followers who have given up on me! And everything will be up and running soon, new programs i had forgotten about for my mac, etc.

Also, I have made my plans for when I graduate. I have decided to not go to grad school, at least not right away. I am going to get my teaching certificate and dive into that and get my masters later in Art Education if I'm feeling it.
