New Art!

So, Its been a few years since I've posted anything!!! Yikes!

I've been writing for the past year over at Barrels and Mash. My husband, a friend, and I started a website about local Oklahoma beer and American whiskey, aka Bourbon. So, if you're into that sort of thing go check us out!

But, I digress...back to my art!  I've been doing abstract art recently and have my artwork featured up at The Patriarch in Edmond.  It'll be up for a month.  Here are some photos of my latest art.

Portraits

One of my favorite things about teaching... portraits of me, done by my students.

This one was done by a kindergartener at the beginning of the year.

This one was done by a kindergartener during the middle of the year.

This one was done by a 2nd grader recently.

Love it.

New Paintings

Over fall break I completed a couple paintings.  The fish painting was done as a wedding present for my step-sister-in-law, ha!  She wanted one of my fish paintings with a black background and white fish, but when I started painting they eventually turned into calico fish.  Ashley and Greg love them though, it worked out fine.

Then, my aunt commissioned me to paint a picture of her dog for my uncle for Christmas.  Here is Frosty!

Catch Up

Its been awhile.  We have lots to catch up on. A month after we bought the house, there was a huge hail storm, and then we had to get a new roof.

Old roof.

 New roof.

I worked on the house a lot during the summer vacation.

Guest bath before.

Guest bath after.

 Her Bedroom furniture.

We finally bought new bedroom furniture and painted the walls.  By the way, when your husband is 6'5" a king size bed is way better than a full size.

We moved our old furniture into the guest room, actually creating a guest room.  Yay! Our visitors don't have to sleep on the couch or air mattress anymore.  I like to call the guest bedroom "Grandma Chic" I got to design it.  Kris got to design the office. That was the deal.

Before.

After.

Kris and I went to my first OU game of the season, not his.  We try to go at least once a season.  Its weird to think of us as Alumni.  It was nice walking around campus, its a beautiful one.

And, our seats were in the second row!

Don't let the bed bugs bite! Part Deux

Yay!  Pretty confident we don't have bed bugs in the house!!!!  (doing the we dont have bedbugs dance, which is super cheesy).  I'm super relieved, but taking extra precautions when coming home from school.  I make sure to wear only clothes that can go in the dryer right when I get home for 20 minutes, and I bring nothing home that has been in my classroom.  They have sprayed the school multiple times, but I'm not taking any chances.  Better safe, than sorry.

We are in the process of buying a house!  Just had the inspection, besides termites, its in pretty good shape. All that we asked to be fixed, will be fixed, and our closing date is April 30th!  Now, I feel like I can talk about it without jinxing it!  It was built in 1963, and the lady we are buying it from is the original owner.  We wanted a house that was move-in ready, but needed updates.  This house fits the bill perfectly.  Most of the houses we had gone to look at that had been updated, weren't updated to our liking or were out of our price range.  This way, we can do it ourselves over time, in our style.

Here's the front...

Here's the backyard, which is amazing.  Though we will want to put a privacy fence in.

The other thing we wanted was a big kitchen.  We cook together almost every time we cook, and our kitchen now is way too small for that.  We can't wait to use the bigger kitchen.

I've already been boxing up things and packing, Kris thinks I'm crazy, I think the more I pack now, the less we pack later.  Yay, I'm excited about our new adventure!

I think I have bed bugs.

My bites are worse....  Sigh.  I called a exterminator that uses heat to kill them, he didn't see any signs but to treat the whole house would be $1850.  Yikes!  We are in the process of buying a new house and no thanks, we'll need that money for the new house.  But, I definitely don't want to bring the bugs with us....  So, I'm having Terminix come check it out on Wednesday.  They use a freeze treatment, we'll see how much the estimate is.  There is a bug sniffing dog out of Norman, but the dog costs $250, I'm not sure I want to pay that either.  Until then, I'm going to get another mattress cover for the box springs, a steam cleaner, and hope for the best.  Maybe, I'll order some other things.  I'm incredibly stressed out about it and I have ugly red spotches all over my torso, side, and back.  I feel super unsexy.
